Nowadays,more and more college students are taking part-time jobs. On this phenomenon, different people hold different viewpoints.

Some people think after-school work is beneficial to the students. On the other hand, it helps cultivate indepenence in young people and make them more matrure;on the other hand,
students who have part-time jobs can relieve, to some extent,the economic burdens of their parents.
But after-school work has brought a lot of problems. For example, part-time jobs often distract students' attention from their studies, so some students have shown a decline in their studies, and some even play truant.
As for me, I think the main task of students is to studey hard and learn what is needed for the development of our society. Though students who have part-time jobs may relieve their parents' economic burdens, their early contact with society adds greatly to the worries of their parents.

I have been shocked many times by some accidents in my life through which I find Human’s life is like a delicate vase that will break into pieces for some unexpected incidents.
One day in the summer of last year, I found something wrong with my body.It was a cyst as big as a coin found under my cheek. I felt very worried because, as I know, a cyst in that place was very dangerous. I was put into hospital after the doctor decided to remove it. After I entered the room of patients, I was jaw dropping because the looks of the patients were frightening, one person has a lump as big as a baseball on his face; another patient’s eyes were bruised too badly to be seen and an old man’s teeth had been all knocked off because the doctor would do an operation in his throat. I felt lucky and was even satisfied with my illness in this situation.

Dear everyone，

Today, I’d like to share with you my past experience of being a volunteer. Although Shanghai World Expo has already drawn its curtain successfully in our city, the spirit of being a volunteer is still here to stay with every one of us.

In my eyes, the real meaning of voluntary spirit lies in the unselfish devotion of time and energy to helping others.

Here I want to give a simple example of how I realized this voluntary spirit myself. It was during the just past summer vacation that I served in the Shanghai Museum for the Anti-drug Scientific Educational Campaign. My duty was to showcase the harms of taking drugs to visitors. Meanwhile, I showed people around separate galleries to teach them the basic knowledge about how to forbid drugs in our daily life. The harm is everywhere actually. For instance, it will bring huge financial losses and psychological problems to the drug user himself, as well as to his family, work, health and even the whole society at large. Every year, it`s estimated that nearly 27 billion RMB is spent in drug-dealing in China! But the most dangerous thing is that once you get addicted to drugs, you can hardly get rid of them.

Although sometimes I felt exhausted during the process, I think it is worthwhile. Since I was not only helping people to get more idea about drug prohibition, but also I helped myself. I realized that I could bring more positive impact on this society within my limited capacities, and how important it is to spread love and care to this cold society. Audrey Hepburn once said:Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, the other for helping others.

And that`s what I think best manifests the spirit of being a volunteer.
