The most precious asset of traditional Chinese medicine is the prescriptions. Most of the medicines prescribed contain herbs and animal ingredients. The story of Shen Nong(

神农氏

) collecting herbs has been widely spread up to the present day. In ancient times people often ate plants to allay hunger. But some died from poisonous herbs, while others became sick but could do little about it. To ease their pain, a man named Shen Nong decided to go and look for cures. He tasted numerous plants himself and discovered that while wheat, rice, corn and sorghum were good sources of food, there were over 300 types of herbs that could be used to cure diseases.

After thousands of years of clinical practice, traditional Chinese medicine now plays an irreplaceable role in treating and preventing illness

as well

as in gaining recognition around the world. The impact of traditional Chinese medicine is growing internationally every day.

中医最宝贵的资产是处方。规定的药品中的大部分含有草药和动物成分。神农的故事(神农氏)采集草药被广泛的流传到今天。在古代，人们经常吃植物充饥。但有些人死于有毒的草药，而其他人则生病，但可以做一些小的。为了缓解他们的痛苦，一个叫神的人决定去寻找治疗方法。他亲自品尝过许多植物，发现小麦、水稻、玉米和高粱是好的食物来源，有超过300种草药可以用来治疗疾病。

The reasons for my applying for Shanghai University of Chinese Traditional Medicine are as follows.

Firstly,I was born in a medical family with my father working as a doctor.Therefore,cultivated and educated in such an environment,I developed much interest in traditional Chinese medicine.Meantime,I want to become a person just like my father.

Secondly,Chinese traditional medicine is of great use in our daily life which can help cure many diseases that can be cured with western medicines.Although it takes longer for Chinese medicine to work in treatment,it has less side-effect to people.As a reslut,I have made up my

mind to learn and master it.

Last but not least,I know it is not so easy to become a doctor,but I am willing to make

great efforts for it ,especially when thinking of reducing people's sufferings from diseases.

大学读的是工科专业，毕业、参加工作，我对中医从来没有起过一丝的怀疑，一直认为中医是好医学，中药是有效的医药，平时得个感冒的小病，
